Water is beautiful. It makes up most of our bodies and we use it every single day. Not only does it make up most of the earth, it also invokes tranquility and serenity.
This project began as a fascination with water drop photography. I wanted to be able to freeze the moment right when a drop hits the water. My first photographs were definitely works in progress, my technique was shaky and my framing unintentional.. Over time I learned to both capture the moment of the water drop and frame it with intention: finding that lighting and precision are key. Once I learned water drop photography, my fascination with photographing water intensified. This fascination grew into a desire to move past water drop photography: not only with different shapes of water but with different forms as well (including solids and gases). My project now is an attempt to capture the beauty of water on a very small scale. My goal is to show how just a few drops of water can make an incredible image. A single drop in a pool, the running water of a sink, or even the bubbles in a vase can make for an incredible photograph and can take the viewer into a world much smaller than the one we live in every day.
