Artist Statement
I have always been interested in the relevance of reflections and what they mean. This is the same for photography. I quickly learned that I wasn’t really taking pictures of windows, cars, buildings, or mirrors, but instead what was warped behind it. When I am shooting photographs I look beyond the barriers in order to see different layers of reflections. With this project, I wanted to show the viewer how reflections can be found all around us, in hopes that people stop and appreciate what is around them.
My project didn’t start out this abstract, but over time it was harder and harder to tell what was going on in my photographs. I liked this because the viewer would have to look closer and closer into the photographs in order to find some sort of bearing in order to understand what was going on in the photograph. In most of my photographs I liked playing with bright colors in order to amplify the abstract effect.
